Downtown
Markham is a 9 million square foot mixed-use city centre where townhomes
and condominiums will be a short walk from jobs, stores, restaurants
and other attractions. The $2.25 billion development will begin
in late 2004 and take 20 or more years to be complete.

The
Civic Mall is a defining feature of Downtown Markham. A park-like
grand allee that runs east-west the length of the development,
it will also accommodate future York Region rapid transit service
to the Unionville GO Station.

Residents
are just a stroll from all of the attractions of the downtown core.
In Downtown Markham there are no single-family homes, only townhomes
and mid-rise condominiums. This provides the density necessary to
justify pubic transit while respecting the Markham's existing small-town
flavour.
